ESPLORIO An online social media travel diary

ESPLORIO An online social media travel diary
20 Mar
2015
Esplorio is an online travel diary that brings together Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Foursquare and several other social networks.

Pictures, tweets and check-ins are plotted onto a map with a timeline overlay that tracks where you've been and what you've done on any given day.

There's also a global overview that shows media shared at those locations. A 'Trips' section creates manual albums to organise a particular trip, and the photos taken on it.

The eventual idea is to market products and services based on where you've visited, with flights or hotels recommended on the basis of previous trips.

When taken for a test drive down the Thames, Esplorio was successful at pinpointing each stop and uploading pictures straight from the phone. A useful next step would be if the map could be embedded into other websites to show people how a trip worked out and where it went.

Esplorio is free. This review originally appeared in the February 2015 edition of Geographical.
